For many tools (merge, split, compress, lots of edits), everything happens in your browser—nothing is uploaded. Office-style conversions (PDF ↔ Word, Excel, PowerPoint) need a server step: we send the file over HTTPS to our backend, convert it, then delete it from our side. We don’t keep a library of user uploads.

The site loads over HTTPS. Browser-only tools never send your file off the device. When a job runs on our servers, the transfer is encrypted and we don’t retain the file after the download is ready. Like most sites, we may use analytics or advertising cookies so we can see what breaks and keep the service funded—see our Privacy Policy for details and how to control ads personalization where applicable.

You don’t need an account to use the tools. We don’t ask for your name or email to convert a PDF. We still use normal web mechanisms (e.g. analytics, ads, error logs) to run the site—those can see coarse traffic patterns, not the text inside your documents when processing stays in the browser.

No watermarks on outputs. No account required. The usual limits are practical ones—per-file size caps so the browser and servers stay stable—not a paywall.

Limits vary by tool (the upload area shows the cap). Very large PDFs can choke the browser or time out on the server—if something fails, try compressing first or splitting into smaller parts.

In-browser tools often feel instant. Server conversions depend on page count, images, and how busy things are—seconds for a small file, longer for a heavy deck or a huge scan. If it’s taking ages, check your connection and file size.

Yes! PDFEliteTools is fully responsive and works on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops. Some tools like Mobile Scanner are specifically designed for mobile use. However, for best results with large files, we recommend using a desktop browser.

First, try refreshing the page and clearing your browser cache. Make sure you're using a supported browser and that your file meets the size requirements. If the issue persists, check our Support Center or contact us for assistance.

Some tools can work with password-protected PDFs if you enter the password when prompted. However, certain operations may require the PDF to be unlocked first. Use our Unlock PDF tool if you need to remove password protection.

Processing time depends on file size, complexity, and the type of operation. Large files, files with many pages, or complex operations like OCR may take longer. If processing seems stuck, try refreshing the page and uploading the file again.

Yes—the tools themselves are free to use. We may show ads to cover hosting and development; that doesn’t unlock “premium” features here because we’re not gating the converters behind payment.

There’s no credit system or daily quota on our side. Fair use still applies: giant files or automation that hammers the service may hit technical limits or blocks—same as any free web app.
